2020

• October: A book contributed by members of the ABCP, Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact on Future Society (《人工智能与未来社会发展》), was published by the Science and Technical Documentation Press (科学技术文献出版社) in China.
• 22 September: Three members of ABCP, Professor Yulong Ding (丁玉龙) of the University of Birmingham, Professor Kai Hong Luo (罗开红) of the University College London, Professor Yong Yan (闫勇) of the University of Kent, have been elected to be Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng).
• 27 August: Working with a number of UK universities, ABCP has produced a short movie to welcome Chinese students to study in the UK. Watch the video by clicking the link here: HD version, SD version.
• 30 June: ABCP Member and Member of ABCP’s International Advisory Board, Prof Zi-Qiang Zhu (诸自强教授) of the University of Sheffield, has won the prestigious 2021 IEEE Nikola Tesla Award. Congratulations to Prof Zhu for the great new achievement! The citation from IEEE says “For contributions to the design, modeling, control, and application of ac permanent magnet machines and drives.” More about this can be found here (Sheffield news story).
• 28 June: Public release of Impact of COVID-19 on Chinese Applicants’ Decisions to Study in the UK: A survey report (re-edited version) to all for free
• 24 June: ABCP Member, Prof Jianliang Xiao (肖建良教授) of the University of Liverpool, was awarded the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) 2020 Tilden Prize. • 19 June: ABCP Member, Prof Jian S. Dai (戴建生教授) of King’s College London, has been named by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as the 2020 recipient of the prestigious Machine Design Award. 2019

• 25 October: ABCP Member, Prof Lin Li (李琳教授) of the University of Manchester, has received two prestigious awards: the 2019 Arthur L. Schawlow Award of the Laser Institute of America (LIA) on 9 October 2019 at the 38th International Congress on Applications of Lasers & Electro-Optics (ICALEO 2019) held in Orlando, USA, and the 2018 Donald Julius Groen Prize of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on 16 October 2019 in London. • 6 August: The ABCP London Office Warm-up Party was held to celebrate the opening of the office at Westar House, 139-151 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5QE.
• 10-12 July: The first ABCP Annual Conference was successfully held at the University of Surrey.

2018

• 18 September: Three members of ABCP, Prof Yi-Ke Guo (郭毅可) of the Imperial College London, Prof Jiangzhou Wang (王江舟) of the University of Kent, Prof Zhibing Zhang (张志兵) of the University of Birmingham, have been elected to be Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng).
• 24 June: ABCP was officially announced in London.
• 13 June: The Chinese website is live.
• 8 May: The English website is live.
• 25 February: The second preparatory meeting was held in London (more than 100 British Chinese professors attended).
