This is the second of a new series of professorial inaugural talks series of the ABCP, for celebrating promotions of its Associate Members to a professorial post and ABCP Full Membership and sharing experience with non-professorial academics on how to get promoted towards a professorial post.

Abstract

Internationalisation and transnational education present unique opportunities for promoting global understanding and career development. In this talk, the speaker will discuss and share his vision and experience of creating and leading UK-China international/transnational education initiatives and programmes over the past decades, and how they have helped to enhance his career development and visibility, culminating in his recent promotion to professorship via the Teaching Intensive route.

Bio of Speaker

Daguo LiProfessor Daguo Li is the UK-based Vice-Dean of the NUIST-Reading Academy – a joint education institute between the University of Reading (UoR) and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). He is also the Programme Co-Director of the UoR’s Masters in English Language Education, a UK award jointly delivered in Guangzhou with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. During his doctoral study, he pioneered residential professional development programmes in the UK for English language teachers from China. Upon completion of his PhD, he continued to lead and develop such initiatives and programmes, supporting the professional development of teachers and education managers at all levels of education. His national and international impact is also felt through his active involvement and leadership in transnational education fora, as well as his doctoral supervision and research around English language teacher professional development and international and transnational education.
