Dr Lingling (Cora) Xu

Bio: Dr Cora Lingling Xu 许玲玲 (PhD Cambridge, FHEA) is Assistant Professor at Durham University, UK. Her research interests include educational mobilities, identities and social theories. She has researched cross-border student and academic mobilities, ethnic minority and rurality topics within contemporary Chinese societies. Her research has recently been featured in the BBC Radio Documentary “Chinese on Campus”. She is an Executive Editor of the British Journal of Sociology of Education, an Associate Editor of Journal of International Students and She is also an editorial board member of multiple journals. She is founder and director of Network for Research into Chinese Education Mobilities (NRCEM). Her publications have appeared in high-impact journals, including The Sociological Review, The Chinese Sociological Review, British Journal of Sociology of Education, among others. Professor Roger Seifert

Bio: Roger Seifert read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University (BA, MA); took an MBA at London Business School, and PhD at London School of Economics. He worked as a management consultant in London before becoming a professor of industrial relations at Keele University (1993-2009) and then a professor of industrial relations at Wolverhampton University (2009-2018). His research focuses on employment relations in the public sector; trade unions and strike action; the role of the state; and issues of racism at work. He appears on TV and radio on a regular basis, mainly on strikes; He has worked as an adviser to large firms (Unilevel, GKN Sankey, Rolls Royce Aerospace; NHS Trusts etc); trade unions (UNISON, Unite, RMT, RCN, FBU etc); and government departments (ACAS, DoH, MoJ etc).

He has published widely on Human resources and employment relations. His new book will be published in July 2022: UNITE History; Volume 2 (1931-1945) No Turning Back: The Road to War and Welfare, Liverpool University Press.
